There is no true self left. There is nothing. They can’t face the black hole of nothingness. The false self is all they have left this is why it is life or death to them to keep the false self propped up. Many people think they have seen the narcissist true self which is the kinder side of the narcissist, or the scared child, but this is not the true self this is part of the fractured personality, the Dr. Jekyll/Mr.Hyde is the fractured personality of the narcissist false self. There is no true self left. This is why the narcissist needs fuel in the form of validation in order to keep the false self propped up. Without it he becomes depressed and feels the nothingness closing in. At the narcissist core is vast emptiness. This is why they depend on others to validate and regulate the false self. The narcissist true self is splintered, ossified and infantile. Development stopped it became stagnant, rigid, calcified, fossilized. There is no true self which can be reached. The true self is inaccessible even to the narcissist.
